DESCRIPTION

The Winter School “EU Fundamental Values as a Backbone for a Fair, Rules-Based Global Order: Promoting an Inclusive and Effective Multilateral System in the Wider World” is designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the European Union’s role in shaping and sustaining a rules-based multilateral order through the promotion of its core values. The programme is developed within the framework of the Centre of Excellence EU4GlobalOrder, which advances teaching, research, and public engagement on the EU’s contribution to international law and global governance through the external projection of the values enshrined in Article 2 TEU.

In line with Article 3(5) TEU, the Winter School focuses on the Union’s obligation to promote its values in its relations with the wider world. The Winter School analyses the EU’s external relations as a key driver of multilateralism and explores their role in reinforcing a fair and rules-based international order.

The School’s activities are aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD students, post-doctoral researchers, university professors, secondary school teachers, lawyers, trade unionists, civil servants, politicians and international organizations officers, who will be able to benefit from methodological tools and suggestions for in-depth study, with the opportunity to exchange information and opinions.

The School will take place over four days, with morning and afternoon activities, on campus. The program will be activated also in distance learning mode (TEAMS platform). The school will be made up of 32 hours of activities. All activities will be conducted in English.

There will be both face-to-face lectures and in-depth work in small groups. There will also be a Moot court competition during the school, which is a valuable learning-by-doing opportunity for participants to test the practical knowledge they have acquired in classroom.

Participants who attend at least 90% of the lectures and complete the planned activities will be awarded 3 academic credits (in accordance with ECTS).
